About QVS:

We are a diverse group of specialists, emergency vets, nurses, technicians and support professionals that are committed to working collaboratively to provide compassionate veterinary expertise 24/7. Current disciplines include internal medicine, surgery, emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging, theriogenology, dermatology, dentistry, anaesthesia and cardiology with immediate plans to expand our services. 

Commencing January 2025:

Our 12 month internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of medical and surgical cases through rotations between departments at QVS, as well as exposure to emergency and critical care cases at PetER. You will develop a comprehensive understanding and confidence in veterinary nursing fundamentals, including intravenous catheterisation, intubation, surgical preparation, patient treatments, and medication administration. The program includes ongoing internal Continued Professional Development (CPD) through various educational initiatives, mentorship from clinical educators and specialists in disciplines such as Anaesthesia, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care, and Diagnostic Imaging, and opportunities to progress through competency-based skills with subsequent remuneration. Interns also participate in nurse education nights, the bi-annual QVS conference, 1-on-1 training sessions, and mentorship programs. Additionally, there is a focus on fostering a sense of professional fellowship among interns, former interns, and all clinic employees. The internship may lead to a permanent contract upon completion, dependent on position availability.

Requirements of the Role:

  • Successful applicants should be committed, intelligent, open-minded scientists, and dedicated, willing, enthusiastic veterinary technicians, regardless of experience level.

  • Graduation and completion of Bachelor Veterinary Technology through University of Queensland
