On arrival to our centre, you will be greeted by our receptionists and emergency nursing staff. Your pet’s condition will be assessed on presentation before receiving a consultation with one of our emergency veterinarians.

Your pet’s health and wellbeing is our priority.
If your pet is stable on presentation, you will be asked to complete an admission form with your details before being taken to a consultation room to await the emergency veterinarian on duty.

If your pet is critically ill on presentation, we will immediately transfer them to our treatment area to commence emergency care and stabilisation of their condition. Your pet will receive immediate treatment and assessment by our emergency veterinarians.

Unlike your primary care veterinarian, Pet Emergency does not operate by appointment but on a triage based system. This means that patients are seen in order of urgency not in the order of arriving to our facility.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the veterinary emergency field, there can be a wait to see our veterinarians at times. Your patience is appreciated whilst we attend to patients with immediate life-threatening conditions.

After Hours and Emergency Veterinary Advice

When dealing with an after-hours emergency with your pet, contacting Pet Emergency directly can provide you with first aid advice that can help stabilise your pet prior to and during transportation.

Please remember that first aid is not equal to a veterinary consultation and treatment. If you are concerned about your pet’s health after hours, we recommend having your pet assessed by one of our veterinarians.

Providing your pet’s breed, size, symptoms and current medical conditions can help our staff assist you both over the phone and when completing your pet’s admission form on arrival to Pet Emergency.

The close association between Pet Emergency and Queensland Veterinary Specialists means our emergency clinicians have constant access to leaders in the fields of Small Animal Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Reproduction, Dentistry, Cardiology, Oncology and Dermatology.

While our knowledge and practical skills are second-to-none, we too pride ourselves on compassion and empathy. Our clinicians treat your pet as if it were their own. Exceptional client and patient care are our greatest strengths.

Consultation with your regular veterinarian

Pet Emergency has a wonderful working relationship with the amazing general practice clinics of South-East Queensland.

We work closely with the general practitioners of our clients and patients, working as a seamless team to provide quality care. We consult with your trusted veterinarian regarding your pets’ care and formulate a plan to ensure your pets needs are met well beyond their initial presentation to our emergency facilities.

Payment

Our clinicians are always mindful of the costs that can be accrued as a result of veterinary care.

For this reason, we are happy to work within your budget to ensure your beloved pet needs the care it requires.

Further, we offer multiple payment options, including VetPay, AfterPay and ZipPay. Our reception staff are always happy to assist should you have any queries.
