Queensland Veterinary Specialists contributes to the Veterinary profession and industry in a number of ways:
University Teaching
In our specific disciplines, QVS contribute to teaching the next generation of veterinarians through didactic teaching, seminars an practical classes. Several of our specialists have adjunct appointments at the University of Queensland in the School of Veterinary Science.
Specialist Training
For the past 15 years QVS have been training new veterinary specialists. Our internship and Residency programs make us the biggest private provider of advanced clinical education for veterinarians in Australia. We set and grade examinations for candidates seeking to become veterinary specialists.
Increasing Knowledge
QVS are committed to increasing the amount of information known in veterinary science and about animals generally. We do this by teaching other veterinarians at national and international conferences; holding our own QVS Seminar Series; publishing book chapters and articles in research journals; being represented on the Editorial Committees of veterinary journals and hosting visiting specialist veterinarians from around the world.
Our Contribution
Veterinary specialist services can be expensive. We provide subsidised care for Guide Dogs, Police Dogs and Customs dogs. We also provide free emergency care for injured wildlife and stray or lost pets. |
