  Physiotherapy

Animal Physiotherapy improves strength, function and mobility, and reduces pain. Much like in humans, animals recovering from injury or surgery benefit from stretching and range of motion exercises, strengthening programs, massage, and specific Physiotherapy modalities as appropriate, including electrical stimulation and ultrasound. Sporting type injuries, including muscle, tendon, ligament and joint strains, also respond well to Physiotherapy. Treatment of spinal pain may also be effective. Unlike chiropractic, high velocity thrusts are not performed. Safe and gentle spinal mobilisation is used to decrease pain and increase spinal mobility. Older animals benefit from gentle Physiotherapy to help maintain a good quality of life.

Our Animal Physiotherapist, Tony Windred, has over 20 years experience as a qualified human Physiotherapist and has additional specific qualifications in treating animals, completing the University of Queensland’s Masters in Animal Studies (Physiotherapy) in 2005. Prior to the initial consultation Tony will require a Veterinary referral or the opportunity to talk to your Veterinarian about your animal’s condition. Tony provides services to clients from all over Queensland with a focus on the North side of Brisbane.
