Your vet may suggest a referral to an internal medicine specialist for complicated or critical cases (for example severe pancreatitis, diabetic ketoacidosis), or patients that require specialised equipment for diagnosis or treatment of their condition.
First you will have a consultation with a medicine specialist, who will ask you questions about your pet’s condition and discuss with you further diagnostic procedures and treatment options. Costs will also be fully discussed at this time. Your pet will then be admitted to hospital for diagnostic procedures and/or treatment. Ultrasonography
This procedure allows us to examine the organs of the abdominal cavity for signs of disease. Your animal will need to have his/her abdomen shaved for this procedure. We also perform ultrasound examinations of the chest cavity, particularly of the heart, to look for evidence of heart disease (echocardiography).
