Community Contribution

QVS contributes to the veterinary profession, industry and the community in several ways.

University teaching

QVS specialists contribute to the next generation of veterinarians through didactic teaching, seminars and practical classes. Several of our specialists have adjunct appointments at the University of Queensland’s School of Veterinary Science.

Specialist training

QVS has trained new veterinary specialists since the early 1990s. Our internship and residency programs make qvs the biggest private provider of advanced clinical education for veterinarians in Australia. We also set and grade examinations for candidates seeking to become veterinary specialists.

Increasing knowledge

QVS is committed to advancing veterinary science and furthering our knowledge of the animal kingdom. We teach other veterinarians at national and international conferences. We conduct our own QVS seminar series. We publish papers and articles in books and journals, and we participate in editorial committees. We host visiting specialist veterinarians from around the world.

Subsidised care

QVS provides subsidised care for our working animal companions—guide dogs, police dogs and customs dogs.

QVS provides free emergency care for injured wildlife and injured stray/lost pets.
